Our Beliefs

Worship is central in our common life together. Every Sunday we gather to pray, hear the Word of God, sing, give thanks, and receive the Holy Eucharist. Our worship services unite us as one body in Christ and are intended to feed and sustain us corporately as well as individually. At St. Simon’s, as in all Episcopal Churches, all baptized Christians are welcome and encouraged to receive the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist regardless of age.

Education supports, clarifies, and strengthens our understanding and worship of Jesus Christ. St. Simon’s is a community of learners and welcomes all questions concerning God’s presence in our lives. If you are seeking a deeper relationship with God in Christ we want you to know that we are, too, and we invite you to join us upon this journey. Christian Education for adults, youth and children is offered throughout the school year.

Fellowship is an important aspect of our community. Our beautiful parish hall is where we greet one another between the Sunday services for “coffee hour“. The parish hall is where adult Sunday school classes are offered, and it also hosts many groups within the larger community that need a place to meet during the week. Through worship we are fed with Holy food, through education we are strengthened, through fellowship we are connected, all three empower us to reach out beyond our walls to others.

Outreach to the community and the world is a vital part of our mission and ministry. We support local charities such as Rockdale Emergency Relief Fund, Meals on Wheels, Georgia Cares, and other organizations which are lending a hand to others in need. We also extend our reach beyond our shores, helping to support ministries around the world through Episcopal Relief and Development.

In the larger context we are Episcopalians, we are followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and we believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and respect the dignity of every person.
