This year we will be providing food hampers for families of children at C.J. Hicks Elementary. If you would like to contribute, please have your donation in by December 15th.
Help the Rockdale Emergency Relief Food Bank replenish its stores for Winter. Participate in the “8 vs 10:30 Challenge “. Which service will donate more healthy food for families? Two marked bins are in the narthex for your donations. All donations need to be in no later than December 15th. Please stop by our table in the Nartex. Our goal is to donate 30 desks to needy children in sub-Saharan Africa. This project is being spearheaded by Charmaine and Kendall. They will be available after the 10:30 service on November 25th to answer your questions and collect donations.
Cold weather will eventually come. We want to help the people at Project Renewal be prepared, so we will be collecting new or gently used coats, for women and children. Bring them to church through early November. Rev. Jane will bless them before we deliver them November 15th. In 2017 St. Simon’s donated 144 pounds of fresh produce to Rockdale Emergency Relief food bank from our garden. In 2018 we have donated 241 pounds so far. Thank you to all our gardeners who plant, weed, water and pick our garden. New tomato plants have been put in and sugar snap peas just planted. If anyone has vertical supports that they are not using, we could put in more sugar snap peas. At the conclusion of our School Supplies Drive, dozens of items were recently delivered to our adopted school C. J. Hicks Elementary. The students and teachers would like to extend a big, heartfelt Thank You to all those who supported us in this effort. The support we receive from you make a big difference in our ability to help our students. Your caring spirit is greatly appreciated.
At the beginning of each school year St. Simon’s parishioners collect school supplies for our ‘adopted’ school, C J Hicks Elementary. Currently we are collecting items for each grade as requested by the school. There is a list of needed supplies on the table in the narthex with a sampling of already donated items. Walmart & Target are having great sales!
Recently the Outreach Team prepared and delivered 28 Easter baskets of goodies for the children at Project Renewal. This is a local organization which provides a safe residence along with food and clothing for local families who have experienced domestic violence.
